Ghost Gear and Fishing Gear
Wild Coast Sussex is working with local fishermen to recycle their end-of-life fishing nets.
Wild Coast Sussex worked with local fishers to recycle their end-of-life fishing nets. So far, we’ve sent over 6 tonnes of plastic fishing gear to be recycled through Odyssey Innovation.
Ghost Gear is abandoned, lost or discarded fishing gear in the ocean. Wild Coast Sussex is working with local commercial fishers and recreational divers to identify ghost gear off the Sussex Coast which can continue to fish and cause entanglement and plastic pollution. Working in partnership with Ghost Fishing UK we are removing the ghost gear from the marine environment.
